- ➤ Kroner's Hardware in downtown La Crosse now has new local owners, a change announced on Facebook Tuesday. The nearly 160-year-old store will have a brief transitional hiatus at the end of Friday. News8000

- ➤ Student-made artworks will be displayed at the 66th UWL Annual All-Student Juried Art Exhibition at the UWL Art Gallery in the Lowe Center for the Arts from Feb. 6 to Mar. 8, and an opening reception with awards will take place on Friday, Feb. 6 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. News8000

- ➤ United Way of Wisconsin launched its Upskill-a-thon, a free online career skills program running through March 31 that offers bilingual courses and cash prizes up to $1,000. The initiative targets residents facing barriers to traditional education by providing them with a way to earn new credentials. News8000
- ➤ On Monday, the school district left Ship Shape Car Wash coupons on homes near the former Hogan School to thank neighbors during demolition. Crews continue demolition on the Hogan building — groundbreaking for the new school is scheduled for early March, with classes set to start fall 2027. WIZM

- ➤ The Wisconsin DNR partners with local libraries to offer free day passes for state parks, forests, and recreation areas. La Crosse Public Library + Shirley M. Wright Memorial Library join the program by letting cardholders check out passes and park info kits. WIZM

- ➤ The City of La Crosse Municipal Transit is recognizing Transit Equity Day today with all-day free fares on MTU buses, tabling at the Transit Center, a free online webinar (12:00 p.m.) with 1000 Friends of Wisconsin, and an open house (4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) featuring refreshments and prizes. - ➤ More than 100 downtown businesses opposed plans to remove parking on 3rd and 4th streets when the Judiciary and Administrative Committee met Tuesday evening at City Hall to review proposals for bike lanes + wider sidewalks.
