- ➤ Holmen’s Kornfest was canceled for this summer because of volunteer and funding shortages — organizers from the Holmen American Legion are rethinking the decision if community donations come in and will hold an outdoor tent event on the parade Saturday. WIZM

- ➤ Kroner's Hardware in downtown La Crosse changed hands Friday as new local proprietors took over the historic store — a fixture in the community for 150 years. The store closed temporarily during the transition as new owners prepared to resume operations. News8000
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development ordered Cave Enterprises (which owns over 100 Burger King locations) to pay $237,437 within 20 days after investigating more than 1,600 child labor and wage law violations reported from 2020 to early 2025 at 103 sites including La Crosse. WIZM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A city council committee approved $120k to fund airport marketing for Allegiant Air, which used the money for social media, billboards and broadcast promotions as part of its launch last Friday at the LSE terminal. United Airlines will start flights later this year. WIZM

- ➤ The Children's Miracle Network 2026 campaign kicked off on Feb. 6 (its goal is to raise funds for local children's hospitals) as organizers work to support pediatric care. News8000

- ➤ Local restaurant The Vintage Kitchen hosted Foodie Friday on Feb. 6, offering rustic comfort food to local diners — the event highlighted a warm setting that reflects the community’s vibrant culinary scene. News8000
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Landlord-tenant problems topped consumer complaints in 2025 with 2,620 cases, including issues with security deposits and home repairs, and this marked the fourth consecutive year on the list. DATCP released the data Thursday, and consumers can contact the hotline for help. WIZM
