  • Taqueria Pato Azul at 127 4th St S will close next month on Thursday, April 30 — the former Dublin Square will become The Rustic with a soft opening on March 13, and Flatiron Cafe and Bar is set to open later this spring at 321 State St.  WIZM
  • Nearly 600 people gathered at the La Crosse Center Thursday evening at the Chamber’s annual meeting. Rivoli Theatre and Pizzeria won Small Business of the Year and Cappella Weddings and Events secured Emerging Business of the Year, while Anthony Binsfeld and Cassandra Douglas were recognized for their community contributions.  News8000

  • Westby Cooperative Creamery earned top finishes at the World Championship Cheese Contest this week — its French onion dip scored 99.55 of 100 to place second among 124 entries while its two cottage cheese entries finished third and seventh.  News8000

  • Energy leaders say Dairyland Power is planning to use modular nuclear reactors to boost local energy supply near La Crosse. Officials expect the advanced reactors to drive innovation in western Wisconsin as the region prepares for change.  La Crosse Tribune

  • Western Technical College has launched its national search for a new president following Roger Stanford’s retirement announcement last fall. The college board—after gathering input from staff, students and community partners—has hired AGB Search to help find his replacement.  News8000
  • UW campuses now can offer three-year bachelor's degrees as the Board of Regents approved the change on Thursday to maintain degree quality.  La Crosse Tribune

  • The mayor’s office emailed residents on Friday morning asking for ideas on how to repurpose the North Community Library building after it closes this summer, and proposals for residential, commercial, community, or creative uses must be submitted by April 10 (via Executive Assistant Annette Steele).  WIZM
