  • La Crosse's longest-running Polar Plunge event raised $96,000 for Special Olympics of Wisconsin athletes last weekend. Law enforcement and several hundred community members plunged into chilly Black River waters + supported the fundraiser.  WIZM
  • On Tuesday evening, Great Rivers United Way held its 76th banquet in La Crosse to honor community leaders like Rick and Julie Diermeier, who donated $100,000 to fund an endowment, along with Kimberly Williams, Dave Edmonds, and Carla Lundeen, while celebrating a $1.5 million fundraising goal (supporting local programs).  WIZM
  • La Crosse Public Library has reopened after a $3.1 million renovation that added over 95 new laptops, a telehealth section, a Create Lab and expanded meeting rooms. The update offers residents enhanced digital access and dedicated spaces for study and community events.  News8000

  • Governor Tony Evers unveiled Wisconsin’s new Film Wisconsin office at La Crosse Film Academy Tuesday, launching a $5 million tax credit program to attract film and television productions. The program offers up to $1 million in credits per fiscal year if productions meet set spending criteria.  News8000

  • A few glasses of alcohol can fragment the brain’s communication, leading to stronger local processing and weaker overall connectivity, according to a study published in Science Alert. Health expert Katie Young from Emplify Health by Gundersen explained the findings during her visit to the WIZM studio.  WIZM

  • Eight UW-La Crosse wrestlers will compete at the NCAA Division III Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa starting Friday, Mar. 13. Coach Dave Malecek, a Hall of Famer with 20 years at UW-L, gives the team a strong edge + drawing on his own championship experience.  WIZM
