At a La Crosse Center board meeting this week, director Jay Odegaard said hiring more sales staff could help the center overcome a $400,000 loss from last year and book events that fit its arena holding 8,000 people — a change that may bring more concerts and funds in the future. - ➤ Halei Heinzel, the 77th Alice in Dairyland, explained the cheese bracket contest that pits eight top Wisconsin cheeses—Muenster, Alpine Style, Havarti, Parmesan, Gouda, Mascarpone, Swiss, and Oaxaca—chosen from over 600 types to celebrate March Madness.
