  • Rosie's Cafe in La Crosse is under new ownership—August Kerns, the third generation of the Kerns family, takes over the business and will continue to offer its popular Rosie's Deuce meal.  La Crosse Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • Clara Gelatt and Katie Bitner previewed nine short films for the No Man’s Land Film Festival — a free event with doors opening at 5 p.m. and films starting at 6 p.m. today at the Rivoli in downtown La Crosse. The festival marks its first year in La Crosse and celebrates voices from the outdoor industry.  WIZM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The La Crosse County Highway Department announced that starting April 7, crews will work on Highway 16 between La Crosse Street and Valley View Mall to reduce lanes to two-way traffic as they resurface the road and improve the bridge and intersection—this project will last through the summer and cause delays.  News8000
  • Voters in La Crosse will cast ballots on April 1 in several state and local races, including choosing a new mayor & city council representatives. The ballot also includes contests to select a new circuit court judge in Branch 1 and new school board members, with candidate details reported by local news.  WIZM
  • City council candidate Roseanne Northwood was on La Crosse Talk on March 26 to explain why she is running, her support for hiring a city administrator after the election, and her plans to help with housing, homelessness, and childcare—she said her nonprofit work and personal experience shape her views. She is running in District 13 against Paul Brown to replace Mark Neumann—her campaign focuses on meeting local needs.  WIZM

  • Emplify Health by Gundersen’s Onalaska clinic pharmacy is expanding its hours—starting Tuesday the pharmacy will be open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. It is the only pharmacy in Onalaska to offer these extended hours and plans are underway to extend service at the La Crosse location as well.  News8000

SPORTS NEWS

  • Galesville pup Cooper and his handler Addison Connolly are preparing to compete in the Junior Open Agility World Championship Competition in Portugal this summer. They are the only Wisconsin pair on the 24-person American Kennel Club Junior Agility Team USA and will travel in July to run a course they have trained for since the pandemic began—marking their first international event.  La Crosse Tribune
