EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ State Road Elementary is getting a $12 million addition to build a new gymnasium and 10 classrooms for about 450 students in a consolidation project. Staff recently toured the rising walls and the district is choosing furniture for interior updates for the 2027-28 school year. WIZM
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A burn ban was issued as of 9:30 a.m. Saturday for burning materials in Barre, Hamiliton, West Salem, Bergen and Stoddard due to very high fire danger. Officials said the ban will remain until conditions improve + residents are urged to dispose of matches, ashes and charcoal safely. News8000

- ➤ Residents can dispose of curbside leaves on April 13 when crews begin on the northside and work south; residents should rake leaves into visible piles on the boulevard (within three feet of the curb) and avoid bagged or mixed leaves. WIZM

- ➤ Emplify Health by Gundersen and Vernon Health signed a letter of intent on Friday to start formal affiliation talks that will focus on patient care and staff impact (with discussions set to continue for several months) while keeping current services unchanged. WIZM
