  • On Saturday, the La Crosse County Council of the American Legion hosted a Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home ceremony at the Onalaska American Legion to honor local Vietnam-era veterans. Families, friends and leaders gathered—listening to keynote speakers and reflecting on the veterans' service and sacrifices.  News8000
  • Place for Angels hosted its 2nd annual scavenger hunt in Chaseburg Saturday to raise funds for a garden memorial for children who died + organizers plan to unveil a centerpiece of an angel holding the hands of a young boy and girl by the end of April.  News8000

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Saturday, the second annual Ho-Chunk Nation Founders Powwow was held at the La Crosse Center (a cherished community venue) to celebrate Native American culture with dance and festivities. One attendee said the event let her honor her ancestors and a moccasin game awarded an $800 prize (as noted by organizers).  News8000
  • On Saturday night, the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra held its Spring Pops Concert where Grammy nominated conductor and trombonist Chris Brubeck performed live—he is the son of famous pianist Dave Brubeck. The event also introduced Conductor Wannabe contestants who raised funds for charity so that the top two will conduct a piece on May 3.  News8000

    Contemporary Christian artist Jason Gray will be performing at First Free church in Onalaska to benefit women struggling with substance use disorder. The concert will also include opening act Sound of the North as well as powerful testimonies of freedom from addiction.
