  • City officials, the school board and YMCA have asked for public feedback on a new northside indoor pool that would offer a competition pool and a fun pool—designed to serve both schools and families—via a survey planned for local households; the proposal may lead to a $33 million tax referendum.  News8000

  • Comedian Bert Kreischer — star of Bertcast — will bring his Permission to Party World Tour to the La Crosse Center on December 11. Ticket sales begin Friday, April 10 at 10 a.m. with pre-sale starting Wednesday, April 8.  News8000

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new AI app helping local farmers identify and remove pests is now available to improve crop management in the area. Local growers will adopt the tool this season to better protect their yields.  News8000

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City crews began flushing fire hydrants today (as a routine effort to clear built-up sediment) to ensure the water system stays ready in key areas.  News8000
  • The county approved Country Boom's move as part of its plan to support local business growth, and officials say details remain limited with further announcements expected soon.  News8000
  • Governor Evers signed PFAS bills recently — the new law sets limits on harmful chemicals to protect local water sources, and enforcement will begin soon.  News8000
  • Residents can share feedback on natural resource management at county hearings on Monday, Apr. 13 at 6 p.m., organized by DNR and Wisconsin Conservation Congress. Meetings will offer question and answer sessions, delegate elections for two seats, and online input through Wednesday, Apr. 15 (locations vary by county).  WEAU
  • City crews will replace traffic signals at the Losey Blvd and Main St. intersection Monday, so drivers may face delays and use alternate routes (West Avenue or Third and Fourth Streets) until work ends this summer.  News8000
