- ➤ On April 6, a motorcycle driven by Travis Brommerich (41) lost control on State Highway 33 in Portland and crashed into an oncoming vehicle, killing him and his passenger Jennifer Schultz (39) of La Crosse while no one in the other vehicle was hurt. WIProud
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Devon Brenson, the former president of Sober Eyes in Monroe County, is accused of 18 felony counts including second-degree sexual assault of a child, exposing his genitals to a child and child enticement — he also faces one count of felony meth possession, is held on a $50,000 cash bond and will appear in court on May 11. - ➤ Reignyn Khaos was named WI Proud Artist of the Month for April 2025 after turning her online makeup looks and outfits into drag shows that won awards—she was named Alternative Drag Performer of the Year by the Wisconsin Drag Association. She performs every weekend at 608 Brewing, Capella and other local venues while teaching new drag artists. WIProud
- ➤ Local heroes were honored Friday at the Miracle Gala held in the Cargill Room as five local children with serious illnesses were named ambassadors for Children's Miracle Network. Sue Kolve Salon provided free hair and makeup while local bakers donated desserts to help reach a $185,000 goal—supporting over 170 children's hospitals across the U.S. and Canada. News8000

- ➤ La Crosse is celebrating Earth Day by hosting the 17th annual Earth Fair—scheduled for Sunday, April 27 from 11 am to 4 pm at the Nature Place in Myrick Park.
