- ➤ The La Crosse Area Community Foundation announced a $25,000 grant to The Parenting Place to expand its diaper bank program for families in need — the program assisted 860 families in 2024 and is set to grow to meet ongoing community demand. News8000
- ➤ Dynamic Lifecycle Innovations will host a free e-recycling event on Saturday (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.) at N5550 Dynamic Way in Onalaska, inviting area residents to bring household electronics and small appliances for recycling. News8000

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Sparta Area School District broke ground on Monday on the first phase of its referendum project ($87 million) that will enhance local school facilities. Officials say the project could improve learning spaces for students and teachers. La Crosse Tribune
- ➤ A groundbreaking took place Monday morning at Sparta High School to begin building a referendum-funded academic wing with specialized classrooms for family consumer science, business education and special education; additional funding will upgrade flooring, roofing and security at other local schools. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents had a one-time leaf collection available Monday and were asked to place leaves in a clearly visible pile near the curb (within three feet) for crews to pick them up, avoiding streets and gutters to prevent clogged storm drains. News8000
- ➤ On Tuesday, Onalaska’s Public Transit Committee will discuss expanding Drift Link (a door-to-door ride service with fares from $4 that currently serves Holmen and West Salem) to help residents reach essential destinations. News8000
- ➤ The city will provide a brush pickup service from next week through May 1 to help residents clean yards. Brush bundles (tied with cotton string) must weigh under 50 lbs and require a permit sticker when hauled to the Isle La Plume drop-off site. WIZM
