  • Riverfest 2026 will begin on Wednesday, July 1 at Riverside Park with opening ceremonies at the park flag pole, kicking off four days of live music, food, and community fun. The event lineup includes performances by Boogie and the Yo-Yoz and a Chad Erickson Memorial Fireworks Extravaganza on the 4th.  News8000

  • A reported tornado tore through a property near Blair on Friday, destroying barns, sheds, and campers (property owner Joe Olson said it hit just after 4 p.m. with no injuries and only minor damage to the home).  News8000

  • A new parking ramp at UW-La Crosse has opened today, adding 550 spaces to ease congestion for students and visitors and coming in $4 million under budget.  La Crosse Tribune

  • Powerful storms hit Cream yesterday, damaging homes in Buffalo County while emergency crews responded to help residents.  News8000

  • Governor Tony Evers spoke at Western Technical College's apprenticeship workshop (WTC) in La Crosse on Apr. 17, highlighting programs aimed at boosting local job skills. His remarks underscored the importance of hands-on training for meeting current workforce needs.  News8000

HEALTH NEWS

  • Emplify Health by Gundersen opened its EmPATH mental health unit on 7th Street at the main hospital recently, with a ribbon cutting attended by local leaders (including the mayor). The facility cost over 5 million dollars and will start accepting patients next week to offer short-term emergency care.  WIZM

  • Pool players from across the region are competing in the Stansfield Vending Pool tournament at the La Crosse Center's South Hall, featuring singles + doubles and team event matches running through Sunday.  News8000
