  • Beer, wine and cheese fans enjoyed the 21st Between the Bluffs Fest on Saturday at the Oktoberfest grounds—attendees sampled local craft beers, wines and artisanal cheeses while listening to live music and playing games like corn hole and axe throwing.  News8000
  • UWL Best Buddies wrapped up its academic year with a fundraiser at Festival Foods Brat Barn on Thursday — the event raised funds and helped members with disabilities connect with community members in La Crosse.  News8000
  • Coulee Recovery Center hosted its 10th annual Voices for Recovery fundraiser on Sunday in Onalaska to raise awareness about addiction and support local recovery programs. The event featured speaker Mary Beth O'Connor, who shared her journey to sobriety—highlighting the importance of community help for those in need.  News8000
  • Area bartenders in West Salem competed at the bowling alley on Sunday to raise funds for the Tavern League’s SafeRide Program—Features Bar and Grill invited Coulee Region servers, and door prizes were given to participants.  News8000

  • The Majestic Monarchs — a Hmong dance team from UAKE Dance Academy — are rehearsing for a Labor Day show in Oshkosh and building confidence as they prepare to share their cultural heritage and art.  News8000

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Coulee Region residents attended the 17th annual Earth Fair at Myrick Park and the Nature Place, where eco-friendly activities promoted clean air and water. The free event featured animals from Rainbow Ridge Farms, a farmers market + food trucks, and local environmental resources.  News8000

HEALTH NEWS

  • Saturday's Drug Take Back Day event outside the La Crosse County Health and Human Services building had a strong turnout as residents dropped off expired, unused, or unneeded medications and learned about safe disposal methods. Health educator Laura Runchey (La Crosse County Health Department) said law enforcement collected the drugs for transfer to the DEA and final incineration in New Jersey, and a second event will be held this fall.  WIZM

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jack Studer, a record-breaking receiver from UWL—holder of 31 touchdown catches and 3,127 receiving yards—has been invited to attend the rookie minicamp for the Green Bay Packers. He had 64 receptions for 1,081 yards and nine touchdowns last season and now will work to impress at the camp.  News8000
