On Saturday afternoon, six people were hurt in a crash on State Highway 35 in Nelson when a 15-year-old girl from New Richmond failed to yield and hit a vehicle driven by a 47-year-old man from Mount Pleasant (three passengers received hospital care and are expected to be okay).

On Saturday, Viterbo University held its spring commencement at the La Crosse Center where more than 400 graduates crossed the stage to receive their degrees.

University leaders and guest speakers honored the graduates and recognized retiring faculty—marking a milestone in the academic journey.

The Wisconsin DNR has raised fire danger levels in several area counties due to hot & dry weather conditions; La Crosse, Trempealeau, Buffalo, Pepin, Pierce & Dunn counties are now at high danger, Monroe, Jackson, Clark, Eau Claire & Chippewa counties are rated very high, and Rusk County is marked as extreme risk.

Veteran representatives shared fears that proposed changes + potential firing of 83,000 VA employees would worsen access to care after 2,400 staff were recently dismissed.
