- ➤ On Saturday, May 10, 2025, volunteers brought food and personal care item donations to the La Crosse Post Office for the Stamp Out Hunger drive where items were weighed and sorted. Shelly Fortner from the Hunger Task Force said the donations will help local pantries meet a 30 percent increase in demand as summer nears. WIZM
- ➤ UWL students are donating usable items for community needs through the Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine program as donation spots are set up on campus through Thursday. The program aims to reduce waste and help local groups like Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army, and the Exchange Furniture Bank distribute these items — easing cost pressures for many families. - ➤ The 32nd annual River Clean Up on Saturday brought 430 volunteers to four sites along the river—where they picked up barrels, tires and dumpsters filled with carpet, mattresses and metal—and volunteers also helped clean up local businesses on Friday before ending their day with a hot dog lunch at Copeland Park. Over 32 years the effort has nearly removed one million pounds of trash from the waterways. WIZM

- ➤ Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred early Monday morning near Black River Falls in Jackson County where one person was transported to the hospital, and the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation has taken control of the investigation—further details have not been released.
