- ➤ The Mississippi River bridge at Lansing closed after midnight Sunday when sensors detected a pier moving beyond its safe limit, and the Iowa Department of Transportation is checking the data while travelers use alternate crossings in La Crosse or Prairie du Chien. WIZM
- ➤ DOT closed the Black Hawk Bridge in Lansing as movement was detected on the structure—officials advise using an alternate route. La Crosse Tribune
- ➤ On Friday afternoon, La Crosse firefighters battled a rapidly spreading marsh fire west of Copeland Avenue—wind and burning tree tops complicated water supply and vehicle access while eight trucks and 23 firefighters, along with Forestry support, worked to contain the blaze; no injuries were reported.
