- ➤ Fifty-two-year-old Bryant Q. Smith is set for a plea hearing on August 4 for the 2023 homicide case of Timothy Salis, who was fatally stabbed more than 40 times at Stokke Tower after the two had been drinking — Smith claims self-defense. WIZM
- ➤ La Crosse Police are searching for Diontae Booth (accused of attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide) after he allegedly shot a 20-year-old ex-partner in the head during a fight on May 15th, and they ask anyone with information to contact law enforcement. WIZM
- ➤ Troy Crogan (48) was arrested in Onalaska last week after police charged him with physically abusing an elder and intimidating her, and he is scheduled to appear in La Crosse court in early June; he was previously convicted of misdemeanor domestic abuse. WIZM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The School District of La Crosse announced that Luke Madsen will become the principal at Logan High School on July 1 as he succeeds Walter Gnewikow—who was named superintendent at La Crescent-Hokah schools—and Madsen, with over 25 years of experience from earlier roles in Winona and Black River Falls, said he plans to create a supportive school where every learner feels they belong. - ➤ Logan Middle School and Logan High School were awarded the Top-Notch Teacher Relief Fund when each school received a check for $3,570 on Tuesday. The funds came from car sales and oil changes in April plus community votes selected the winners to support local education. News8000

- ➤ La Crosse Airport is planning more talks with airlines to resume regular flights after Delta ended service two years ago. Airport business manager J.D. Roberts said the airport will meet with carriers including Delta, Allegiant, United and Breeze Airways next month to discuss plans that may include more flights — reflecting rising passenger numbers.
