- ➤ Houston County court ordered a competency test for Nicholas McCabe, a Brownsville man charged with attempted murder after he stabbed his father outside the family’s roofing business in Hokah on May 12 — his evaluation may take up to two months before he returns to court in July and he is barred from contacting his father or keeping dangerous weapons. - ➤ UW-La Crosse's Adapted Physical Education program faces an uncertain future after the U.S. Department of Education cut long-standing grant funding.
