COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Cameron Park hosted the debut of the Sunday Market with kids activities, exercise classes and vendors selling food, clothes, books and jewelry. The market will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Oct. 25.  WIZM
  • On Friday, the expanded Dash Park will open at 200 Main Street with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. The new park features an interactive splash pad, modern restrooms & a covered seating area and operates daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.  News8000
  • Local organizers are preparing a park cleanup event for Father's Day in a popular park on Sunday, June 21. Families can join the community outing designed to celebrate the special day.  News8000
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of the 7 Rivers Region returns Bowl for Kids Sake today at All Star Lanes in La Crosse — a fundraiser that supports its Sports Buddies program pairing adults with children — and encourages bowling to boost physical activity.  WIZM
  • Erickson Pool and Veterans Memorial Pool have opened for the summer season, and residents can join swim lessons and other programs starting soon. Registration for youth and adult activities continues ahead of events later this week.  WEAU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The UW Board of Regents is weighing a two-percent tuition rise for resident undergrads for the 2026-27 school year—this move, along with a 3.5 percent fee increase, would bring UW-La Crosse’s annual cost to about $10,563. The proposal will be voted on during a meeting in Milwaukee on Thursday and Friday.  News8000

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Izaak Walton League is surveying river users (fishermen and boaters) on Pools 7 and 8 during River Action Days until June 15 to gather key data on fishing and recreation in La Crosse. The survey will help guide future conservation efforts on the Mississippi River.  News8000

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Candidates Rebecca Cooke and Emily Berge released statements following Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s visit with Rep. Derrek Van Orden on Monday — their remarks come as part of ongoing campaign efforts in the district.  WEAU

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Bantry Friendship Association donated $2,700 to the Lucey Family Alzheimer’s Fund during its annual Coulee Hoolie Ceili fundraiser this past weekend. The funds will help buy automated dog dolls that move and bark to comfort local Alzheimer’s patients — a practical aid for families.  WIZM

SPORTS NEWS

  • UW-La Crosse is preparing for the WIAA State Track Meet this weekend as head coordinator Josh Buchholtz says 50-55 volunteers and 60-70 staff will help host over 3,400 athletes (with about 90% of dorms filled), while the meet runs from Friday morning to Saturday.  WIZM
  • A UW-La Crosse graduate ran a 100 meter dash in 9.89 seconds at a local track meet — showcasing emerging local athletic talent.  News8000
