  • Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region is launching the 'ReNew the Block' project by selling customizable permeable pavers that will fund home repairs, a food forest and stormwater management improvements along Avon Street in La Crosse + each paver costs $150 and will be installed in front of Logan Middle School by late 2026.  News8000
  • On June 4, Driftless Recovery Services and What I Need Now van partnered at Copeland Park to offer free meals, haircuts, and recovery service connections to local residents. The event boosted community dignity + provided vital support to those in need.  La Crosse Tribune

  • La Crosse man Anquin St Junious was found guilty on Tuesday, June 10 on charges of 2nd degree reckless homicide + he faced charges from a 2019 taxi fight that led to Virgil Stewart's death and is now awaiting a sentencing hearing.  WIProud

CULTURE NEWS

  • Brothers O.D. and Baer Brundage visited the WIZM studio Tuesday, June 10 to preview La Crosse Community Theatre’s Big Bad Musical, part of the Penguin Project where children with disabilities learn lines and act together. The performance will be held at the Weber Center at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday—showing community support to keep the project alive.  WIZM
  • Viterbo University announced a 12‐month entertainment season featuring 33 acts including farewell shows by the Righteous Brothers, performances with Bernadette Peters and Ben Folds, and tribute shows for ABBA, Queen, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan and Johnny Cash. The season will open with a Queen tribute called Killer Queen on July 18—also including local favorites like the Viterbo Christmas concert and the Nutcracker Ballet by the La Crosse Dance Centre.  WIZM
  • Terry Bauer, Moon Tunes co-founder, appeared on La Crosse Talk on June 11 to review the season opener and preview today's Riverside Park concert series from 5:30-8 p.m. that will feature Double Take & Secret Menu along with food trucks, drinks, free train rides for kids and a bicycle corral.  WIZM

  • Figures from the state Department of Tourism showed that in 2024, tourism generated $25.8 billion statewide with 114.4 million visits that boosted tax revenue and created more jobs. In La Crosse, the local tourism impact rose by 3.4 percent to $519 million and spurred the creation of over 4,000 jobs—demonstrating solid economic growth.  WIZM
