- ➤ American Cruise Lines' American Melody came into Riverside Park on Sunday for its first cruise of 2025 and stayed for most of the day; it will not return until Labor Day weekend. Riverboat companies plan 22 stops along the river through October — the next boat, Viking Mississippi, is scheduled to visit on July 3 during Riverfest. WIZM

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At Monday night's meeting, the La Crosse school board learned that city officials voted to vacate the 1800 block of Winnebago Street next to the Hogan Administrative building so a new elementary school can be built in the next two years. Superintendent Aaron Engel said staff will move out in October—demolition will follow soon, with groundbreaking next spring and classes set to begin fall. WIZM

- ➤ Governor Tony Evers visited La Crosse Monday to tour the Collective on 4th, a $16 million housing development with 62 mixed income units—he said he hopes to see more projects like this across the state. - ➤ On Monday, Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul joined 54 other attorneys general in a proposed $7.4 billion settlement with Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family — a deal aimed at addressing their alleged role in worsening the opioid crisis — which will bring up to $80.1 million to local governments over 15 years.
