- ➤ Sparta Area Fire District assisted with an animal rescue on Sunday at 9:55 a.m. on Cedar Road when a horse was stuck in a manure pit; crews used wide tow straps to lift the animal and it will be checked by a veterinarian. WEAU

- ➤ La Crosse County’s Highway Department will hold a meeting today at 5 p.m. at Holmen Village Hall, 421 S. Main Street to share plans to fix the road between Briggs Road and County HD near Holmen High School — the fixes include new pavement, curb ramps, bike lanes and updated signs.
