  • The YMCA summer food program launched this summer to provide free meals to children 18 and under at 24 locations in La Crosse County—serving fresh produce, whole grains, milk, and protein while offering bulk breakfast and lunch options in rural areas and aiming to deliver 400,000 lunches by the end of August.  News8000

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcycle crash Saturday evening near the intersection of Highway 53 and Dubbert Road between Blair and Whitehall injured 36-year-old Cody Morse when his motorcycle left the road after passing two vehicles, hit gravel and a guardrail—he was transported by Tri-County Ambulance with life threatening injuries.  WIZM

CULTURE NEWS

  • Riverfest medallion hunt is underway in La Crosse as the festival nears — the contest requires hunters to search within 10 miles of Riverside Park, not bury the medallions underground, and call the number on the back when a medallion is found, with the first clue issued Monday, June 23rd.  News8000
  • Local residents can join the Riverfest Medallion hunt where a new clue is given each day on public property within 10 miles of Riverside Park and if the medallion is found the winner receives four Riverfest buttons, four can koozies, $50 in food vouchers and 10 beverage tickets. Today's clue reads 'Festive days and fireworks bright—But your prize hides out of sight—Beyond the crowds and river’s sound, your treasure waits on quieter ground.'  WIZM
  • A plaque on Grandad Bluff near the shelter marks where La Crosse held its first Christian service in June 1850, and on Sunday a special anniversary service was held by Christ Episcopal Church. About 50 people rode the bus up the bluff to the church where Father Mike McElwee led communion with Bishop Matthew Gunter plus an Episcopal archbishop from Africa.  WIZM
