- ➤ The Viking Mississippi will dock in La Crosse at 9:30 a.m. on July 3 — part of Riverfest — and remain until 5 p.m., then return on July 7. Viking also will have 10 stops planned this season with nearly two dozen visits by four riverboats until the final stop on October 19. WIZM
- ➤ On Saturday afternoon, the iconic Budweiser Clydesdales passed by crowds on 2nd and Front streets in La Crosse as part of the Big River Rally at the southside Oktoberfest Grounds. Jared Rickert from S&S Distributing said more people than expected came to see them—his truck promoted Folds of Honor, which has raised over $33 million for scholarships. WIZM

- ➤ Governor Tony Evers met with La Crosse childcare providers and parents on June 25 to discuss the urgent need for state funding as local centers closed and fees rose—and he said he would work to secure more money in the final budget while experts warn that without support, essential programs may fail. - ➤ Sen. Baldwin warned that the GOP budget plan will cut Medicaid for over 250,000 people—about the combined number of residents from Green Bay, La Crosse, Waukesha and Wausau—and reduce health care for 16 million and food aid for 3.2 million Americans.
