  • Holmen Police arrested 38-year-old Jacob Andrew Klaver on a 1st Degree Intentional Homicide charge late Wednesday after a man was found dead at 815 Granum St. early Sunday—he is in a hospital after a medical emergency—while the victim was the current boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend.  WIZM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Tony Evers signed the $111.1 billion biennial budget early Thursday morning after it cleared the legislature to fund K-12 schools, the UW system and child care. Lawmakers rushed to pass the plan before federal changes cost hospitals $1.5 billion—showing bipartisan compromise—and tax cuts now total more than $12.6 billion for working and middle-class families.  News8000
  • The Wisconsin DNR created a new online tool called the Wisconsin Fishing Finder—an interactive map of 15,000 lakes and 42,000 miles of streams that also provides fishing regulations and boat launch information. The agency will collect feedback in the coming months to see if the tool is helping local anglers.  WIProud

  • The La Crosse County Health Department retested Airport Beach, Bluebird Springs Campground, and Black River Beach on Thursday and found E. coli counts below warning levels. Airport Beach is now open for public swimming—while the other two beaches are confirmed safe for use.  WIZM
