  • The La Crosse Club donated $2,800 to Dignity Homes to support local housing programs and help people facing instability — the unexpected gift reflects strong community backing.  News8000
  • Staff in Chippewa Falls are finishing setup for the Northern Wisconsin State Fair as vendors prepare booths and rides—judged events like junior swine and sheep shows have already taken place and the fair will run until July 13th.  WIProud
  • The Coulee Coalition is recruiting volunteers for the 2025 Point in Time homeless count on July 23-24, which will survey unsheltered people to guide funding and services. Community members can call Monica Horner at 608 784 4357 — training will be provided to work safely.  News8000

  • Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers will open its doors on August 19 near Valley View Mall — Hy-Vee. The restaurant will host a grand opening promotion that offers free meals for 20 customers and will hire 100 crew members, with in-person applications accepted from July 21 to August 3.  News8000

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Heritage Center opened an exhibit of 27 original paintings by Marion Cape Biehn that capture La Crosse’s historic homes and shops, and the display began Wednesday evening. The exhibit runs until October 5 — adults pay $5, students pay $4, and Historical Society members enter free with State Bank Financial sponsoring the project.  News8000

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UW-La Crosse received state funding for the Prairie Springs Science Center project that will tear down Cowley Hall and add 30 STEM classrooms, labs and collaborative spaces—work will start in spring and finish by fall. The project is fully funded by the state budget and is set to expand learning opportunities for students.  WEAU
