- ➤ A 48-year-old Sparta man, arrested on drug charges after a three-hour standoff, will appear in court today for his second bond hearing—he is charged with possessing meth and marijuana, operating a drug trafficking location, and 15 counts of felony bail jumping. News8000

- ➤ UW-La Crosse has received state budget approval for the second modern science building—Prairie Springs—after delays raised its cost from $80 million to $195 million. The Cowley Science Hall will be demolished after this fall and groundbreaking for the new building is set for the spring. WIZM

- ➤ The Chad Erickson Memorial Thunder Ride for Juvenile Diabetes will begin at 10:30 a.m. on July 26 from Rod's Ride On Powersports on the southside of La Crosse. The ride will cross into Minnesota before ending at Schwertel Family Farms in Trempealeau—where silent auction and giveaways will help fund medical expenses and supplies for children with Type 1 Diabetes.
