- ➤ Police in La Crosse reported that the body of 22-year-old Eliotte Heinz was found in the Mississippi River on July 23 after she was last seen walking on Front Street South at 3:20 a.m. on July 20 — authorities continue to investigate her death as her family mourns her loss. WIProud

- ➤ A national survey ranked Wisconsin’s fried cheese curds with ranch dip 14th among America’s favorite summer dishes in a poll of 3,003 food lovers — the survey also found that grilled corn with herb butter and cheese and beer brats with sauerkraut ranked 27th and 38th respectively.
