  • Frank — Julia’s Grocer, an Italian-themed deli and specialty grocery, opened Saturday at 138 S. Kingston St. in downtown Caledonia, Minn, offering a menu of Italian sandwiches, pasta dishes, and retail items; the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill in Onalaska will be remodeled into a dual-branded Applebee’s/IHOP restaurant later this year with plans for no more than three weeks of closure for renovations.  La Crosse Tribune

CRIME NEWS

  • An Onalaska man was arrested after a high-speed chase on Thursday night when Holmen police attempted to stop Jonathon Gerow for speeding near 90 mph on Highway 53 by County Road MH but he fled on his motorcycle, lost control and crashed on County Road OT before being taken by ambulance for a check, and he now faces charges for fleeing—resisting, reckless driving and traffic violations after police learned his bike was stolen in Minneapolis.  WIZM
  • On July 26th, multiple people were injured when a man stabbed several individuals at a local Walmart in La Crosse, and police are investigating the incident.  News8000

CULTURE NEWS

  • WI Proud's creative department won an Emmy Award for its Rivertown series that tells La Crosse history with strong pictures and stories — creative director Tyler Ike and photographer-musician Deion Tovar helped make the work special.  WIProud
  • Today the La Crosse chapter of the American Associated of United Women hosted its annual Art Fair on the Green at Viterbo’s campus and accepted donations to fund local scholarships and grants for women seeking higher education. Attendees enjoyed local artwork, refreshments, food trucks and a raffle featuring work from different artists.  News8000
