  • Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson said authorities are seeking Fred Kelly Jr. aged 41 — his last known address is Viola and anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Office at 608-637-2123.  WEAU

  • La Crosse Police Captain Avrie Schott previewed the 42nd National Night Out happening Tuesday—police will be at 14 city locations—and explained the new speed enforcement zones that have been posted on social media for enhanced public safety.  WIZM
  • Congressman Derrick Van Orden’s bill to help veterans avoid foreclosure has been signed into law — it creates a permanent partial claims program that lets the VA work faster with military families facing mortgage difficulties.   • On July 30, Governor Tony Evers announced in La Crosse that he will not seek a third term, creating the first open governor's race in 16 years—he said discussions with his family led to his decision and he remains committed to meeting local officials.  WIProud
