COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Residents in La Crosse have one more week to enjoy public pools as Erickson Pool — Northside Community Pool — and Veterans Memorial Pool will close on Sunday, August 17. All three pools offer free admission all day to mark the end of the summer season. News8000
- ➤ On Tuesday August 12, an evening of musical entertainment will take place at Riverside Park Bandshell to support Family Promise of the Great Rivers, a shelter that helps families with young children. La Crosse Coulee Chordsmen and Coulee Classic Quartet will perform and collect a free will offering to fund the shelter’s housing and support programs. WIZM
- ➤ The La Crosse Public Library's second-floor computer lab is closed from Monday through Wednesday for technology and space upgrades—staff will still help with personal devices and printing services remain available. News8000
- ➤ The library computer lab was closed on Aug 10th and library officials say it will reopen once the issue is resolved—no reopening date has been set. News8000
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ William Charles Brink, the suspect in a Holmen gas station robbery, was arrested Saturday morning at 8:33 a.m.—he fled into the marshy backwaters near Goose Island Campground and is now held in La Crosse County Jail on charges including robbery with use of force. WIZM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Irishfest kicked off Friday afternoon at Southside Festgrounds in La Crosse — a 20th annual celebration led by a local pipe and drum brigade. The event featured Irish music, cultural exhibits, food and drink and lasted through Sunday. WIZM
