- ➤ A Hillsboro man, Robert Brand, 22, was charged with felony counts after he tried to pass two vehicles and caused a February 10 head-on crash in Viroqua that seriously injured a woman who was airlifted by Gundersen to Emplify — he faces charges of 1st Degree Reckless Injury, Reckless Driving, and Recklessly Endangering Safety and will appear in court again on September 2. - ➤ Senator Tammy Baldwin visited Rosenholm Dairy Farm in Waumandee on Thursday morning to discuss the Dairy Pride Act—designed to stop non-dairy products from using dairy names, protect family farms, and ensure fair returns. The law would enforce proper labeling under federal standards and support Wisconsin's vital dairy economy. WEAU
- ➤ The La Crosse Common Council will vote in a special session before Thursday's meeting on a settlement of up to $144,000 for Austin Clark—who was seriously injured when a police vehicle accidentally struck him during an arrest on September 13. News8000
- ➤ Today, at an event in La Crosse, an AARP-Wisconsin representative said Social Security must change to avoid paying only 80% of benefits by 2034 — he urged lawmakers to support a pledge for fixes that ensure full benefits.
