- ➤ Dr. Aaron Engel, superintendent for the La Crosse School District, joined News 8 Now live on studio on August 21st to discuss the first day of school with new start times of 7:45 a.m. for elementary and 8:25 a.m. for middle and high schools — he added that a $53 million referendum will fund future projects including an addition at State Road Elementary in October, removal of the Hogan Administrative Building in November, and groundbreaking on a new elementary school next spring. - ➤ Heavy traffic and road closures are expected near UW-La Crosse as more than 3,000 students move into campus from Aug. 27 to Sept. 1 — residents should plan ahead for delays. La Crosse Tribune
