- ➤ Hundreds of workers gathered at Copeland Park on Monday to celebrate Labor Day while union leaders called for stronger union rights and safer working conditions, noting that parts of Act 10 were ruled unconstitutional last December — the case is expected to reach the state Supreme Court. - ➤ The La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce announced its new CEO, Sam Scinta from Onalaska, who will take over from Beth Franklin on September 15. Scinta brings diverse experience from legal work, small business management and teaching at local universities. News8000

- ➤ After Labor Day weekend, UW-La Crosse and other schools began classes as campus dorm move-ins ended—students and families often moved belongings back out when they found rooms already had mini-fridges. - ➤ City of La Crosse is updating its zoning code—unchanged for over 40 years—to simplify building processes and spur growth, with community input invited and proposals set to be shared in October while council review is planned for next summer.
