- ➤ Mid-West Family La Crosse will hold a 24-hour Radiothon on October 9 and 10 to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and their families—broadcast live from Emplify by Gundersen—and will air on Z93, 95.7 The Rock and KQ98. All donation funds will remain in the community to help cover medical care, research, and financial needs. WIZM

- ➤ A winning ticket purchased at the Kwik Trip at 1333 Rose Street in La Crosse won $350,000 in Monday’s SuperCash! drawing, and the ticket matched all six numbers—odds of 1 in 1631312—and the winner has 180 days to claim the prize. WIZM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Klein Hall—a housing facility for homeless veterans in Chippewa Falls—closed its doors on Tuesday when state funding ended, and staff had been cleaning out the building after the last veteran left on September 9. More than 20 veterans were moved to other facilities while plans for a new transitional housing program are expected to replace the outdated building. WEAU
- ➤ A proposed new director of operations position is set for review again Thursday by the Finance and Personnel Committee — the city council postponed the vote a month ago to allow more study. The review comes as the city also plans public sessions on hiring a city administrator Tuesday. WIZM
- ➤ The district will host a final public tour of the Hogan Administrative Center on October 15th from 6-7 p.m.—the building, built in 1920 with later additions and once an elementary school, will be torn down for a new school as district offices move to Central High School in October. WIZM
- ➤ La Crosse residents rallied Tuesday night as they demanded that Congress reach an agreement to avert a government shutdown that could disrupt federal services, with protesters voicing concerns over stalled healthcare policy decisions. Local officials called for bipartisan action to keep operations running smoothly - citizens fear a prolonged shutdown will delay non-essential services and impact federal workers. News8000
- ➤ La Crosse is asking residents to volunteer for city committees such as the Building and Housing Appeals Board, Housing Authority, and Redevelopment Authority—positions that require local citizenship and sometimes specific skills.
