- ➤ CMN’s Radiothon raised $150,000 on November 4th — the funds will support the station’s programming as it moves forward. News8000
- ➤ La Crosse County Health and Human Services is asking residents to donate food items such as tuna, peanut butter, soup, canned fruit and cereal to help families facing food insecurity, with the drive running through November 30—donations are accepted at the Health and Human Services building Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and monetary contributions are welcomed. - ➤ United Fund for Arts and Humanities is halfway to its $140,000 goal to support twelve local arts and humanities nonprofits in the coulee region—its campaign highlights the region's cultural impact. The organization will host Pints for a Purpose on November 18 from 4—8 p.m. at Turtle Stack Brewery, where 10% of beer purchases and all tips will be donated. WEAU

- ➤ Western Technical College in La Crosse will begin a search for a new president as Roger Stanford retires effective August 14th, 2026 (serving since 2017) and remains engaged in campus planning (retiring for personal reasons). WIZM
- ➤ The La Crosse School Board approved the 2025-26 budget to cover a $2.3M gap by cutting costs — including combining schools. The district said the changes will help keep its finances in order. La Crosse Tribune
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Nov. 22, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will open a nine-day gun deer season ending Nov. 30 as officials warned that deer numbers may be lower than in past years. Hunters must register all harvested deer by 5 p.m. the next day (using GameReg, phone, or in-person) and follow required safety rules. WEAU

- ➤ On Monday morning, the new Lansing Ferry began service across the Mississippi—more than 100 vehicles crossed between 5:30 and 8 a.m. as it replaces the closed Black Hawk Bridge and limits trips to cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and two-axle trucks while larger vehicles stay off board. WIZM
- ➤ Congressman Van Orden urged Governor Evers to submit Wisconsin's Rural Health Transformation Program application today so that $50 million in federal funds for rural healthcare are not lost. His letter stressed that the application must meet federal guidelines — a critical step to preserve vital services in rural communities. WEAU

- ➤ Officers from La Crosse and Vernon counties are taking a 40-hour training course that includes an immersive 'hearing voices' exercise to help them handle mental health emergencies — a program sponsored by local mental health organizations.
