  • GRUW held its Ugly Sweater contest fundraiser on Dec. 9, engaging local participants in a festive event that raised funds for community projects. The event brought a spirited gathering that highlighted local support.  News8000
  • La Crosse Parenting Place received a corporate donation from U.S. Cellular + T-Mobile to provide diapers and snacks for local families, easing the supply gap for new parents. The donation, valued at about $5,000, supports an ongoing diaper bank every Thursday on Green Bay Street.  WIZM

  • State lawmakers introduced legislation on Dec. 9 (aimed at boosting vaccination rates) that will empower health officials to expand outreach at community clinics statewide.  News8000

HEALTH NEWS

  • A panel of local healthcare and law enforcement officials met on Monday at Gundersen Hospital to discuss rising violence threats in healthcare settings. Police Chief Shawn Kudron, District Attorney Tim Gruenke and emergency physician Chris Eberlein said staff need better security measures and clearer mental health protocols.  WIZM
  • Adult & Teen Challenge of Western Wisconsin will add The Gospel TLC in Wausau as its men's residential recovery campus from early 2026. Kevin Schaler said the new campus will increase beds and support to expand Christ-centered recovery for more individuals in need.  WEAU
