ECONOMY NEWS

  • LADCO dedicated two certified industrial sites at the Hawkeye and Bluffview Business Parks during a Tuesday ribbon cutting ceremony held near Riverland Cooperative — state officials confirmed the land is shovel ready for new development and economic growth in Holmen.  WIZM

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The city hosted a Salt Smart workshop on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Black River Beach Neighborhood Center that discussed safe alternatives to salt for snow and ice removal to protect roads, infrastructure, plants, animals, and waterways.  WIZM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City will open its Emergency Day Center on Sunday at 713 St. James Street from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to help residents brace for cold weather, offering lunch provided by The Salvation Army and free bus service with set pickup times; donations are not accepted at the center.  News8000
  • La Crosse homeowners must clear sidewalks (including curb ramps and crosswalk corners) within 24 hours after the snow stops to avoid city intervention, which will clear the area for $2.50 per linear foot plus additional fees.  News8000
  • Starting January 2, the North Community Library will operate 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday while the Main Library will end Sunday hours—North Library is set to close in June due to a $175,000 budget cut as the board works to deliver library services at other locations.  News8000
  • City officials enforced new alternate side parking rules on Dec. 10 (effective citywide), so drivers must check posted signs to avoid violations.  News8000
