- ➤ VARC president and CEO Liz Filter visited the WIZM studio on Dec. 8 to promote the 4th Annual New Year’s Eve gala, an event set for Dec. 31 at the Waterfront’s Cargill Room downtown with $125 tickets that benefit local disability services. WIZM
- ➤ The Winter Farmers Market is moving from the Masonic Center to the La Crosse Center hallway starting with tomorrow’s event from 9 a.m. to noon. The market runs every other Saturday through April (except December 27) with 15 to 20 vendors and a microgreens and garlic vendor coming in January. WIZM
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Papa John’s Pizza in Onalaska is now open with a soft opening from 4-8 p.m. Friday through Sunday + it will begin regular hours next week. The restaurant is located at 201 Sand Lake Rd and is managed by John Gaylord. WIZM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ English Lutheran Church has recreated Bethlehem with live animals and over 300 actors as part of its free biblical event. The reenactment runs today from noon till 5 p.m. (registration required) for visitors to step into the ancient scene. News8000
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Viterbo University held its Winter Commencement yesterday at the Fine Arts Center’s Main Theatre & 131 graduates received their diplomas, including 87 undergraduates, 28 master’s, and 16 doctorate students. The event featured a baccalaureate mass and a nursing pinning ceremony with addresses by Grace Zinda and Derek Freese. News8000

- ➤ At Thursday’s City Council meeting, a resolution transferred the development agreement for the Charmant Hotel from the Weber Group to Hendricks Commercial Properties, a firm founded by billionaire Diane Hendricks & owner of properties nationwide.
