The city built Memorial Pool at UWL in 1938 for over $70,000, closed it in 2016 due to high costs, and reopened a rebuilt version in 2019 with the old pool house kept—local schools have also maintained pools on campus. - ➤ Toudeng Thao, a 59-year-old man from La Crosse, was sentenced yesterday to 7 ½ years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley after pleading guilty to distributing methamphetamine — he was arrested last January during a traffic stop while carrying a large amount of the drug. WEAU
- ➤ La Crosse Police and US Marshals arrested 28-year-old Diontae D. Booth just before 5 p.m. Thursday on the 1900 block of Rose Street—he faces five charges including attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide for shooting his ex-girlfriend on May 15 while she recovers—and he remains without bond in the La Crosse County Jail.
